Meet Katie Moradian- National Field Educator for Estée Lauder - Oh Mumma

Tell us about your role at Estée Lauder and what it entails.

I am the National Field Education Manager for Estee Lauder UK & Ireland, and my role is focused around ensuring our Beauty Advisors have the skills and confidence to give every customer a great experience. I work with my team of Educators to bring this to life – from product knowledge to digital learning or sharing a new mini facial for our Beauty Advisors to learn, every day is different.

How did you get into it the beauty industry?

My first job was on a beauty counter when I was 18…and I loved it! I knew there and then that this was the industry I wanted to build my career in. What I have learnt from being a Beauty Advisor then Counter Manager, to then being part of the field team has had a huge impact on my role today.

What’s your ideal pampering session?

It has to be skin care…and lots of it! I love to take 20 minutes at the end of a busy week for a face mask (with a glass of wine) and follow with a double cleanse, serum, moisturiser and eye cream. At the moment I am reaching for lots of hydrating products after spending a lot of time in front of the screen

What are your Top 3 skincare tips.

Double cleanse - Even if I do not wear makeup, I use a cream or an oil cleanser first to deep clean then I like to use a foaming cleanser to feel refreshed and ready for my next products
Exfoliate - Whether you prefer a scrub or a peel, twice weekly exfoliation boosts radiance and sloughs away any dead dry skin cells. I really notice the difference if I don’t exfoliate
Eye cream – A colleague in my first beauty job told me that if I invested in one item, it should be a great eye cream and to apply it morning and night from my teenage years. That stuck with me, and I never neglect my eye area. A grain of rice size applied AM & PM is enough to keep my eyes feeling hydrated and looking bright
What tips could you give busy mums to save time on their beauty routine?

Use your products in multiple ways – When I am rushing, I mix my Double Wear Foundation with Advanced Night Repair Serum to give me coverage and radiance in one go. Add a little lipstick to instantly give you a boost and press a little bit of that same lip colour onto your cheeks for a youthful flush

What does the beauty industry look like in 10 years from now? Use your crystal ball...

We will still love our holy grail products – I am 100% certain I will still be using Advanced Night Repair Serum day and night in 10, 20, 30 years time! In the last few years we have ventured into virtual try on for make up products, to enable us to colour match without removing the make up we are wearing. I see this going to the next level with skincare recommendations and future results that we are able to see there and then

What are your 3 dessert island must haves? (Don’t have to be beauty).

Mascara – the one product that makes me look awake instantly!
SPF – I wear an SPF 45 everyday, come rain or shine. It’s so important to protect your skin from as much environmental damage as possible
My friends and family – as many of them as I can take with me to my desert island

If you could invent one product, what would it be?

A sheet mask that also applied your full make up as your removed it would be the dream!

What is self care to you?

Taking time to switch off, to unwind. We are online so much whether that is for work or for connecting with friends, for shopping or catching up on the latest trends. Self-care for me is having that hour before bed to switch off devices - I sleep so much better and my mind is much clearer.

What would you tell your 18 year old self?

That hard work pays off! You might not see it now, and your friends might be going in different directions – but that’s ok. Stick with your gut instincts and work hard. Achieving your dreams is in nobodies hands but your own. (Plus…Don’t forget your Eye cream!!)
